CATHEDRAL BELLS

CH.89: If you were to categorize or describe the style of your music, what would it be and why?

CB: I used to think production in big recording studios would make songs sound good, but I realized that you can record in your bedroom at a very low budget and DIY approach to capture and create crafted songs. This has a lot of influence on the way I record and work on our music. I consider our project to be a bedroom dream pop band.

CH.89: Where do you draw your inspiration from?

CB: Inspiration comes from everywhere. It could be through people, life, music, movies, art, and personal experiences. I usually have a theme or memory to go off of for each new song.

CH.89: What made you want to start a band and how did you come up with the band name?

CB: I’ve been playing music most of my life and it’s something that I enjoy doing. The band name randomly came up and it had a nice ring to it ??

CH.89: Can you talk a little bit about what your creative thought process is like when starting a new album?

CB: Usually each new song or album is inspired by recent memories and experiences. Could be what is on my mind while writing at that specific time.

CH.89: What would you want people/ the listener to take from your music?

CB: To enjoy what they hear, stay connected, & to want to hear more new music from us.

CH.89: Can you talk a little bit about your lifestyle as an artist and what that is like?

CB: Well I work full time at a retail job and that takes a lot of my time. Hoping in time I can put more efforts to music and less into my day job.

CH.89: When starting out an artistic task, do you think it is better to have a particular direction/set plan guiding your way? Or, is it better to act on impulse and go from there?

CB: I think there’s no true formula to it for me at least. I usually have a set direction and after laying out some ideas, it’ll change up multiple times until it is polished up.

CH.89: What is one major lesson you’ve learned as an artist?

CB: Enjoy what you have going on and don’t let it get to your head. I’m grateful to make music and have listeners tune in.

CH.89: Do you regard personal style & taste to be of highest importance?

CB: Yea I guess so. I believe everyone should do what makes them happy.

CH.89: What do you consider to be the hardest thing about being an artist?

CB: Trying to understand the music industry.

CH.89: What is one thing you love about being an artist?

CB: The creativity and making something from nothing.

CH.89: Is there anyone in particular, any artists that inspire you in any way?

CB: I feel like all the artists I follow inspire me.

CH.89: What do you think of technology in terms of being a useful tool for artists today?

CB: I think it’s great. I’m a big fan of cassette and vinyl, but I also feel that digitally it’s easier to listen to music and share with anyone. It’s very convenient to access.

CH.89: Do you think being an artist allows you to view the world differently from those who don’t follow creative paths?

CB: Possibly? I’m sure there’s many people out there who don’t take music and artists seriously. But we shouldn’t take life too seriously, I guess.

CH.89: Do you enjoy traveling? If so, do you have a favorite city?

CB: Not sure if I have a favorite city, but yes, I love to travel and I’m excited to be touring through the fall. West coast starting April 12th!

CH.89: Do you have a favorite author or book?

CB: I used to read a lot of Charles Bukowski and Henry Miller.

CH.89: Any future goals or plans for your music?

CB: New songs & more touring dates.

CH.89: What does being an artist mean to you?

CB: I think being an artist is creating something that inspires thoughts and feelings in others, that’s what I strive for.

CH.89: Any last words on the aesthetic of your music?

CB: D r e a m y.
